Gal 1:6-10 Whats Moving Me? This verse is a frightening verse. It implies that there is a force seeking to move us from the gospel, from the truth of the Bible. Not only so, but this force is powerful enough that it can be sucessful. It happened to the Galatians, a New Testament church founded by a Holy-Spirited filled man during the most powerful out-pouring of the Holy Ghost. Are we so vain as to think that it could not happen tu us? The only disadvantage that church had was that they lived before the Word of God was complete. That in itself teaches us what we need to do to prevent that force from moving us. However, that demonic force has other new advantages. 1. It has 2,000 more years of experience. 2,000 more years to set traps, hone arguments, to study our weaknesses. 2. It has more proponents today. Christianity is more a minority todayat least in this countrythan it has been since in at least 200 years. Tonight; lets consder the question, "Whats moving us away from the truth?" I. What is moving us? A. There are many philosophies, traditions, and principals attempting to move us from Christ, but I think they fall into three main catergories. Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 1. So called intellectuals 2. Liberals 3. Religious B. Each has their weapon of choice. 1. The intellectuals want to move us with their theories. a. Sadly today the so called "intellectuals" control science. b. Science deals largely with unproven and unprovable theories. c. Creation, extinction, ice ages, fossilization d. Since no one was there to see what happen, the best science can offer are theoriesthat means educated guesses. e. The problem is the so-called intellectuals no longer tell you that they dont know and are just guessing. f. And if you disagree with them, they will insult you and intimidate you to get you to cow down to them. g. That might be no problem for us adults who have learned to deal with it but for youths are are easily influenced by their peers, it is tragic. 2. The liberals want to move us with their emotions. a. I did not watch a single debateeither side. b. I heard of the parents of the war hero who supported Hillary and the emphasis on blacks who said they had been abused by us white supremacists. c. Why did they bring those out? They wanted your sympathy. 3. The religious want to move us with their experiences. a. Most "Christians" believe the Bible until they have an experience that changes their mind. b. homosexuality, an "unanswered" prayer, a dramtic experience II. What does God say about these forces and their weapons? A. To the so-called intellectual, God says He is making a fool out of you. 1Cor 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1. \\#18\\ Notice to the lost, preaching is foolisness. (To us, it is Gods power. It breaks the hard heart like nothing else can.) 2. \\#19\\ God is going to attack you at your chosen weapon. 3. What you think is wise, God is going to make foolish and what you think is foolish, God is going to use in a mighty way. \\#21\\ 4. God has already done this. B. Most of the people that I preach to are not students, but with the least little study, you can easily enjoy the ability to make the intellectuals who reject Gods Word look foolish. C. The two biggest thrones for the intellectuals is creation and the flood. Nothing riles a liberal like 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
