Notice \\#Gal 1:4\\. In that verse, God promises the believer two types of deliverance through Jesus and the gift that He gave to us. Lets understand what God has promised. I. God promised deliverance for our sins. A. That phrase is a reference to salvation and to the deliverance that God gives us from the WAGES of our sins. B. Someone might say, "Preacher you talk about that a lot." 1. To that I would say, "Thank you." 2. It is always my purpose to tell people that Jesus died to save them from their sins and if I dont do it, it is either because I am backslide or forgot. C. Every human being ever conceived is condemned by sin on two counts. 1. We are conceived sinners. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: a. The fact that we are born sinners is proved in two ways. (1) Babies die. Babies could not die if they were sin because death is the wage of sin. (2) That is why I say that we are not just born in sin, we are conceived in sin. (3) If not, babies could not be aborted or miscarry or die in the womb. b. No one has to teach a child to do wrong. They are either born knowing how or they figure it out very quickly, even before they can talk or walk. c. This means that even if a child could be born in bubble and somehow kept from every doing, saying, or thinking anything wrong, as adults they would still die lost because they are born with sin. d. Someone says, "Thats not fair." (1) You are correct. (2) Life is not fair. Death is not fair. (3) Even heaven and hell is not fair. (Good people go to hell and people who have done bad things can go to heaven.) (4) However, God has given us something better than fair. God gave us mercy. a. Mercy means that anyone and everyone can go to heaven, whether it is fair or not. b. The thief dying beside Jesus went to heaven. That wasnt fair to those he robbed and hurt. c. Paul, former Saul of Tarsus, went to heaven. That wasnt fair to those he arrested, persecuted, and perhaps killed. d. I am going to heaven and Im sure that I have done wrong to enough people in this world that someone would say, "Thats not fair." 2. The second reason why we are all condemned is because we have to chosen to sin. a. None of us were born in a bubble and all of us have sinned. b. Whether your sin was lying, stealing, blasphemy, disobeying your parents, being vile, corrupt, lazy, or whatever, you have sinned. D. The good news is that Jesus came to die for all. 1. Anyone can be saved if they have three things. a. Knowledge-No one can be saved unless they have the truths. Romans 10:14 and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? b. The answer to that question is that they cannot. c. If you are saved, someone gave you the knowledge and it now becomes your duty to give that knowledge to everyone else. d. Preach to crowds or talk to individuals, but share the Word or people will die lost. 2. Faith-You must believe on Jesus Christ. That means four things: a. You must believe that Jesus is God. b. You must believe that Jesus died for your sins. c. You must believe that Jesus rose on the third day. d. You must believe that if you ask Him, Jesus will save you. 3. Repentance-You must surrender control of your life to Jesus. a. You have had control of your life so far and youve made a pretty big mess of it. b. You say, "No, I have not." Friend, you have sinned against God and He is going to cast you into hell. Thats a pretty big mess. c. If you are going to be saved, you must surrender control of your life to Jesus. E. I pray that you have deliverance from your sins! II. God promised deliverance from this present evil world. A. This promise, just like the first, is made by God to Christians, to all Christiansincluding you in whatever battle you are fighting. B. Lets be sure we understand what this promise does NOT means. 1. It does not mean that you are exempt from suffering, from sickness, from poverty, or from persecutions. a. Jesus promised His own disciples that they would go through such things \\#Matt 5:10-12\\. b. Paul told Timothy that "all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" \\#2Tim 3:12\\. c. Paul described himself and the others of Jesus disciples as suffering hunger, nakedness, imprisonment, beatings, and death \\#1Cor 4:11\\. 2. No, we are not granted deliverance from such things as these. Rather, these are our opportunities to serve and suffer for Jesus. C. So from what present evils do we have deliverance? Let me list some for you. 1. Jesus died to give us deliverance from the bondage of sin. Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. a. Let me put this is terms everyone can understand by giving you several statements that all say the same thing. (1) Jesus died so that nothing can force you to sin. (2) Jesus has delivered you from every sin. (3) The only sin you have to commit are the ones you want to commit. (4) If you are a Christian, you are sinning because you want to not because you have to. b. If you are drinking, it is because you want to drink. c. If you are viewing porn, committing adultery, lying, stealing, cussing, being lazy, doing drugswhatever sin you are committing, you are doing because you want to., d. There is power in the name of Jesus to overcome every sin. e. Listen to what the Bible says. Heb 12:1 let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us Ro 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1Pe 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, Heb 12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. f. Someone is going to say, "Preacher, I have tried and I cant do it." (1) Try again and try harder. (2) I dont say it will be easy. I just say it can be done. g. I will help you. Others in this church will help you, but you will have to do two things first. (1) You are going to have to love Jesus more than yourself. (2) You are going to have to believe that the power of Jesus is greater than the power of sin. 2. Jesus died to give us deliverance from the condemnation of guilt. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. a. One of the problems some face today is guilt. The problem is twofold. (1) Some who are forgiven still feel the guilt of their past sins. i. Being free from committing a sin does not remove the guilt for sins already committed, does it? ii. If I shoot someone, I may rid myself of all firearms so that I will never shoot anyone again; however, not shooting someone else does not remove the guilt I feel for the person I already shot. (2) Some who are not forgiven do not feel the guilt of their sins. i. The conscience is programmable. ii. God should be the Programmer and His Word should be the code. Ro 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) iii. Sadly, many people today have learned how to reprogram their conscience so that they do not seem to be bothered by wrong. iv. That is actually a Bible sign of the last days. 1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; b. This verse tells us who should not feel guilty. It is one very small group. (1) Those who are "in Christ." That means, those that are saved. (2) Those who "walk after the spirit, not after the flesh." Those who are seeking the Holy Ghosts leadership in their life and not trying to please themselves. (3) Everyone else needs to feel guiltyso guilty that they will come to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. (4) That is why God gave us a conscience! c. But what about those who are saved and trying to live righteous lives and they still feel guilty? (1) The devil is messing with you. (2) The only thing that makes any behavior wrong is that God says it is wrong. (a) If you have been watching our court and legal systems, you should have figured out by now that just because they say something is right (abortion, homosexual marriages), that doesnt make a thing right. (b) Neither because they say a thing is wrong (prayer, witnessing, speaking out for right), is a thing made wrong. (c) God defines right and wrong-stealing, adultery, false worship, no worship, murder, drunkenness, drugs, etc. (3) So when we do wrong, although we may hurt someone else, the sin is always against God. (4) If only God can define the sin, then only God can define the cure. (5) What is the cure for sin? Actually twofold. (a) We seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ. i. Lost person, you need to be saved. ii. Saved person, you need to repent of that sin and confess it to God \\1John 1:9\\. (b) If that sin hurt someone else, we need to seek forgiveness from them and make restitution to them. Mt 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. d. If you do these two things, then God turns off the guilt. If you are still feeling it, it is the devil messing with you. e. Suppose the person I wronged will not forgive me? (1) Dont waste your time feeling guilt. That is not productive because there is nothing else you can do. (2) Rather, feel compassion for them. Feel love, sympathy, make them someone you pray for every time you remember them. Ask God to help them. If it is possible, you help them but never let them know it is you. 3. Jesus died to give us deliverance from the confusion of darkness. Luke 1:79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. a. There are many Bible verses about darkness. (1) Darkness in the Bible is a picture of being in sin? Why? (2) Several reasons: (a) You cant go the right way in the darkness. (b) You cant protect yourself in the darkness. (c) You get confused in the darkness. b. Jesus came to take us out of the darkness into the light. Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. c. Sadly, our world has rejected Jesus so soundly that they have been cast into utter darkness. Our culture is so confused that they do not even know what bathroom to go into! d. This is just the tip of the iceberg. (1) It is going to get so bad that God Himself will send confusion and delusion on this world. 2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: (2) Jesus is the only way to keep from being sweep up in the delusion. (3) He is Light and by being in the Light, we will be delivered from the darkness and delusions that are going to take through this world even deeper into darkness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Galatians 1:3-4 The Deliverance You Can Have Click here to see the remainder of this message.
