Miguel Ibarra se hizo pasar por sacerdote durante m\u00e1s de 18 a\u00f1os antes de ser descubierto. Predic\u00f3 y realiz\u00f3 bodas, bautizos y comuniones a pesar de nunca haber sido ordenado.<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de una investigaci\u00f3n exhaustiva, se determin\u00f3 que Ibarra hab\u00eda falsificado sus documentos, por lo que fue despedido y deportado a su pa\u00eds de origen, Colombia. .<\/p>\n

Se necesita m\u00e1s que documentos de ordenaci\u00f3n para ser un verdadero pastor. Cualquiera puede cubrir sus paredes con certificados y t\u00edtulos.<\/p>\n

Se necesita m\u00e1s que un organigrama de la iglesia para ser pastor. Las iglesias en las que he servido durante 29 a\u00f1os han confirmado amablemente mi llamado y mis dones, pero ninguna me convirti\u00f3 en pastor. Solo Dios puede hacer ese llamado.<\/p>\n

Entonces, \u00bfc\u00f3mo puedes saber si eres un verdadero pastor o solo un farsante? Probablemente hay muchas maneras de hacer esa distinci\u00f3n, pero aqu\u00ed hay algunas para comenzar la conversaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

1. Los pretendientes confunden competencia con car\u00e1cter.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gran parte del entrenamiento formal de un pastor se enfoca en c\u00f3mo hacer crecer una iglesia y el reino. Aseg\u00farate de guardar tu coraz\u00f3n al menos tan bien como guardas tu reba\u00f1o.<\/p>\n

Ten cuidado por ti mismo y por todo el reba\u00f1o sobre el cual el Esp\u00edritu Santo te ha puesto por obispo ( Hechos \u202d20:28\u202c\u202c).<\/p>\n

No pastor sets out to be a pretender. Character erosion happens gradually when soft compromises evolve into serious sins.<\/p>\n

Each step away from innocence is a step away from the Lord. A second secret life is formed slowly and almost imperceptibly.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeep your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed from blatant rebellion\u201d (Psalms\u202c \u202d19:13).\u202d<\/em><\/p>\n

2. Pretenders pay more attention to their audience than their souls.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

All pastors feel some pressure to grow their churches numerically. There\u2019s an unspoken pressure inherent in the pastorate to deliver results.<\/p>\n

The stakes are high because they\u2019re eternal. Talented pastors learn quickly what their members want and can deliver the goods with or without God’s help.<\/p>\n

Scary, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

To be clear, church growth is not the problem. Personal growth is.<\/p>\n

\u201cPay close attention to your life…for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers\u201d (1 Timothy\u202c \u202d4:16\u202c).<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Pretenders ignore wise counsel.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Most of us have a pastor-friend who was exposed for living a double life. Our typical response is to look back and wonder what we missed. We second guess how we could have prevented this ministerial meltdown.<\/p>\n

In my opinion, the burden of guilt lies squarely on the shoulder of the fallen pastor.<\/p>\n

Pastors have an \u201con\u201d button we instinctively turn on, which gives others false assurance we\u2019re doing fine. When we avoid hard conversations and surround ourselves with predictably positive voices, we have dangerously insulated ourselves from the people who love us the most.<\/p>\n

An example to learn from is King Rehoboam, who turned away the sage voices he should have trusted \u202d\u202d(1 Kings\u202c \u202d12:7-8\u202c)\u202c\u202c.<\/p>\n

Positive feedback can become emotional carb-loading for a discouraged pastor. A healthy pastor will solicit a broad range of feedback.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet they didn\u2019t listen or pay attention but followed their own advice and their own stubborn, evil heart. They went backward and not forward” (Jeremiah 7:24).<\/em><\/p>\n

4. Pretenders compartmentalize their lives.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Compartmentalization is not unique to pastors and is a blind-spot for many people in general. The idea of a double-life dangerously presumes the possibility of separating the sacred from the secular.<\/p>\n

The term \u201chypocrite\u201d was originally used to describe actors in the ancient Greek theater who wore masks. Pastors become pretenders by acting one way on stage and another off stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cKnow well the condition of your flock, and pay attention to your herds\u201d (Proverbs 27:23).<\/em><\/p>\n
