For the expression &lsquo;the ears shall tingle&rsquo; cf. <span class='bible'>1Sa 3:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Jer 19:3<\/span>. In both these passages the phrase is used in connexion with utter overthrow, in the one, of Eli&rsquo;s house, in the other, of Jerusalem.
