Of him we have the largest account, not only because he was of the royal tribe, but for the Messiah’s sake, who sprung from him. The names of many of his descendants, Er, Onan, Achan, and Tamar, his incestuous daughter-in-law, are marked with infamy in Scripture: yet to these was the friend of sinners allied, and from her descended. Let not the greatest criminals despair!

The family of Jesse is particularly taken notice of, for David’s sake, of whom, as concerning the flesh, Christ came. He is called the seventh son of Jesse; though in 1Sa 16:10. Jesse had eight, and he was the youngest. Perhaps one of them died before he came to the crown, or one of the eight might be by another wife.

Fuente: Commentary on the Holy Bible by Thomas Coke

If the Reader be desirous to attend to the history of some of the persons here registered, he will find an account of them elsewhere in the Bible. But many of them are only mentioned in this record, and that only with a view to preserve the genealogy of their family. Bezaleel is honourably spoken of, Exo 31:2 . Hezron was one of the threescore and ten souls of Jacob’s household that went down into Egypt. Gen 46:10 . Jair we have an account of; Num 32:41 . But, it should seem, that the great object here intended from their enumeration is, as the Book of Chronicles implies, to preserve the register of their families.

Fuente: Hawker’s Poor Man’s Commentary (Old and New Testaments)

1Ch 2:15 Ozem the sixth, David the seventh:

Ver. 15. David the seventh. ] Jesse is said to have eight sons, 1Sa 17:12 but one might be his son by adoption.

Fuente: John Trapp’s Complete Commentary (Old and New Testaments)

David: It appears from the parallel places of Samuel, that Jesse had eight sons, of whom David was the eighth and youngest; but one may have died before David came to the throne. 1Sa 16:10, 1Sa 16:11, 1Sa 17:12-14

Reciprocal: Jdg 1:16 – the Kenite Rth 4:22 – David 1Sa 26:6 – Zeruiah 2Sa 2:18 – three 2Sa 3:39 – the sons Mat 1:6 – Jesse

Fuente: The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Ozem the sixth, David the seventh: 15.
