Reaiah is the same with Haroeh, 1Ch 2:52<\/span> the names are of the same signification:<\/p>\n and Jahath begat Ahumai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites<\/strong>; who inhabited Zoreah, as the Targum, at least part of it; see 1Ch 2:53<\/span>.<\/p>\n 1Ch 4:2<\/span>, with the descendants of Shobal<\/em>. As to Reaiah the son of Shobal, see 1Ch 2:52<\/span>. He begat Jahath, a name often occurring in Levite families, cf. 1Ch 6:5<\/span>, 1Ch 6:28<\/span>; 1Ch 23:10<\/span>., 1Ch 24:22<\/span>, 2Ch 34:12<\/span>; but of the descendant of David who bore this name nothing further is known. His sons Ahumai and Lahad founded the families of the Zorathites, i.e., the inhabitants of Zora, who also, according to 1Ch 2:53<\/span>, were descended from sons of Shobal. Our verse therefore gives more detailed information regarding the lineage of these families. <\/p>\n (2) Reaiah <\/strong>(or<\/em> Jehoraah) the son of Shobal<\/strong> . . .<\/strong>See 1Ch. 2:52<\/span>, which also calls Shobal father of Kirjath-jearim. 1Ch. 2:53<\/span> adds that the Zorathites (Authorised Version, Zareathites<\/em>) came of the clans of Kirjath-jearim. The present verse supplements the data of 1 Chronicles 2<\/span>, by putting the clans of Zorah in immediate genealogical connection with Shobal.
