Jephunneh is not the same with Hezron, as the Targum, but another son of Kenaz, hence called the Kenezite, <span class='bible'>Jos 14:6<\/span> and brother of Othniel; and Caleb his son is the same that was sent one of the spies of the land of Canaan by Moses, see <span class='bible'>Nu 13:6<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>his sons were Iru, Elah, and Naam<\/strong>; of whom we nowhere else read:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz<\/strong>; another Kenaz, or rather it should be read Uknaz; so Jarchi and Kimchi.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p> Of Iru, Elah, and Naam, the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh (cf. on <span class='bible'>1Ch 4:13<\/span>), nothing more is known. To connect Elah with the Edomite chief of that name (<span class='bible'>1Ch 1:52<\/span>) is arbitrary. Of Elah&#8217;s sons only &ldquo;and Kenaz&rdquo; is mentioned; the  copul. before  shows clearly that a name has been dropped out before it. <\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Keil &amp; Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p>(15) <strong>The sons of Caleb, son of Jephunneh.<\/strong>Caleb son of Jephunneh is called the Kenizzite, <span class='bible'>Jos. 14:6-14<\/span>. He obtained a part among the children of Judah (<span class='bible'>Jos. 15:13<\/span>), because that he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel (<span class='bible'>Jos. 14:14<\/span>). If Caleb the Kenizzite and his clan were received among the Hezronite houses of Judah, this new division of the Hezronites would henceforth be known as the house of Caleb, <span class='bible'>1Sa. 25:3<\/span>; or simply Caleb (= Chelubai, the Calebite). (See Notes on <span class='bible'>1Ch. 2:42<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch. 2:49<\/span>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elah<\/strong> occurred <span class='bible'>1Ch. 1:52<\/span>, as an Edomite princedom, like Kenaz in <span class='bible'>1Ch. 1:53<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naam<\/strong> is perhaps Naamah, <span class='bible'>Jos. 15:41<\/span>, a town in the Shephelah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And the sons of Elah, even Kenaz.<\/strong>The Heb. is, <em>and the sons of Mah and Kenaz,<\/em> that is, two clans of Calebites called Elah and Kenaz. Comp. <span class='bible'>1Ch. 4:13<\/span>, and <span class='bible'>1Ch. 2:42<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch. 3:21<\/span>. Some MSS., the LXX., Vulg., and Targum omit <em>and<\/em> before Kenaz. But the word <em>Elah,<\/em> with different points, might be read <em>elleh,<\/em> these. It may be suggested, therefore, that we have in this last sentence the subscription to the list begun at <span class='bible'>1Ch. 4:13<\/span>, <em>lleh bn Qnaz,<\/em> these are the sons of Kenaz. Others suppose a name omitted, and render: and the sons of Elah . . . and Kenaz.
