Hillerus c takes her to be the same with Jehudijah, <span class='bible'>1Ch 4:18<\/span>, though some d take Hodiah to be the name of a man, and read the words, &#8220;and the sons of the wife of Hodiah&#8221;; which wife of Hodiah was<\/p>\n<p><strong>the sister of Naham<\/strong>; or rather Achotnaham, we render the sister of Naham, is the name of the first son of Hodiah, as some think e:<\/p>\n<p><strong>the father of Keilah the Garmite<\/strong>; prince of the city of Keilah, in the tribe of Judah, <span class='bible'>Jos 15:44<\/span> who sprung from the family of Garmi:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and Eshtemoa the Maachathite<\/strong>; the father or prince of the inhabitants of Eshtemoa, another city in the same tribe, see <span class='bible'>1Ch 4:17<\/span> who sprung from Maachah, see <span class='bible'>1Ch 2:48<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>c Onomastic. Sacr. p. 836. d Michaelis in loc. e Beckii Not. in Targ. 1 Chron. iv. 19.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p>(19) <strong>And the sons of his wife Hodiah.<\/strong>The existing Hebrew text says, <em>And the sons of Hodiah<\/em>s<strong> <\/strong><em>wife.<\/em> Hodiah recurs as a mans name in <span class='bible'>Neh. 8:7<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Neh. 9:5<\/span>; but a very slight changethe addition of three lettersin the Hebrew would give the sense: And sons of his Jewish wife, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa, &amp;c.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naham<\/strong> is unknown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keilah<\/strong> is a town in the Shephelah (<span class='bible'>Jos. 15:44<\/span>), well known as the scene of Davids prowess and peril (<span class='bible'>1 Samuel 23<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eshtemoa<\/strong> occurred in <span class='bible'>1Ch. 4:17<\/span>, in connexion with Ishbah, son of Ezra by Bithiah. (See Note there.) The Garmites and Maachathites are unknown clans. The former founded or were settled at Keilah. It appears that <em>abi<\/em> (father of) has dropped out of the text before Eshtemoa; the sense being that the Maachathites were settled at Eshtemoa; which, of course, they may have been, side by side with the half-Egyptian clan Ishbah. Maachah is mentioned, <span class='bible'>1Ch. 2:48<\/span>, as a concubine of Caleb.
