30<\/strong>. the sons of the priests<\/em> ] This phrase means merely “members of the priesthood, priests.” Cp. 2Ch 25:13<\/span>, “the soldiers of the army” (lit. “the sons of the troop”) and the common expression “the sons of the prophets.”<\/p>\n the ointment<\/em> ] R.V. the confection<\/strong>. See Exo 30:23-25<\/span>. This “ointment” was peculiarly holy. The Levites might have charge of the oil and spices (1Ch 9:29<\/span>), but only the priests might make the confection.
