Probably however the list in ch. 11 and that in ch. 12 belong to different times.<\/p>\n<p><em> the Gederathite<\/em> ] i.e. the man of Gederah. The only Gederah known was in the Judan Shephelah (<span class='bible'>Jos 15:36<\/span>), so that it would seem that some men of Judah are reckoned along with the Benjamites in these verses. Similarly in <span class='bible'>1Ch 12:7<\/span> men of the Judan town of <em> Gedor<\/em> (<span class='bible'>1Ch 4:4<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Jos 15:58<\/span>) are mentioned. Ismaiah the Gibeonite<\/B>Itappears that not only the Canaanites who were admitted into thecongregation (<span class='bible'>Jos 9:1-27<\/span>),but people of the tribe of Benjamin, were among the inhabitants ofGibeon. The mention of &#8220;the Gederathite,&#8221; probably fromGederah (<span class='bible'>Jos 15:36<\/span>), in thelowlands of Judah; of the Korhites (<span class='bible'>1Ch12:6<\/span>), from Korah (<span class='bible'>1Ch 2:43<\/span>),and of Gedor (<span class='bible'>1Ch 12:7<\/span>), a townin Judah, to the southwest of Beth-lehem (compare <span class='bible'>1Ch4:4<\/span>), shows that this first list contains men of Judah as well asBenjamin [BERTHEAU].<\/P><\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Jamieson, Fausset and Brown&#8217;s Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible <\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><strong>And Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty<\/strong>,&#8230;. That came with him, and he had the command of; this man was of Gibeon, another city in the tribe of Benjamin, <span class='bible'>Jos 18:25<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad, the Gederathite<\/strong>; one of Gederah, a city in the tribe of Judah, perhaps on the borders of that and Benjamin; Joram speaks of it as belonging to the country of the city Aelia or Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p>(4) <strong>Ismaiah the Gibeonite.<\/strong>Gibeon belonged to Benjamin (<span class='bible'>1Ch. 9:35<\/span>), and <span class='bible'>1Ch. 12:2<\/span> proves that Ismaiah was a Benjamite, not a Gibeonite in the strict sense of the term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A mighty man among the thirty.<\/strong>The thirty must be the famous corps (<span class='bible'>1Ch. 11:25<\/span>). Ismaiahs name does not occur in the catalogue, perhaps because he died before it was drawn up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Over the thirty<\/strong> may mean that at one time he was captain of the band, or it may simply denote comparisona hero above the thirty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josabad the Gederathite;<\/strong> of Gederah in the lowland of Judah (<span class='bible'>Jos. 15:36<\/span>).
