In two of the passages quoted in this note <em> Abiathar<\/em> (probably being confused with his father) is called <em> Ahimelech<\/em> or <em> Abimelech<\/em> (<span class='bible'>2Sa 8:17<\/span> = <span class='bible'>1Ch 18:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch 24:3<\/span>). Conversely in <span class='bible'>Mar 2:26<\/span> <em> Ahimelech<\/em> is called <em> Abiathar<\/em>. In the Chronicler&rsquo;s list of highpriests (<span class='bible'>1Ch 6:4-14<\/span>) <em> Zadok<\/em> alone is mentioned, the line of Eleazar alone being given. Cp. (Comp. Notes on <span class='bible'>1Ch. 6:4<\/span>, <em>sqq.,<\/em> and <span class='bible'>1Ch. 24:3<\/span>. ) On <span class='bible'>1Ch. 15:5<\/span> the meanings of three of these names have been suggested.
