Chronicles avoids the tautology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>These nations.<\/strong><em>The nations<\/em><em>scil.,<\/em> whom he had reduced (Samuel).<\/p>\n<p><strong>From Edom.<\/strong>Samuel, from Aram, but LXX., Syriac, and Arabic, Edom; (Targum and Vulg., Aram). All the versions read Edom here, which appears correct. Edom and Moab were conterminous, and the reference includes <em>all<\/em> the nations whom David conquered and despoiled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And from Amalek<\/strong> may refer to <span class='bible'>1Sa. 30:16<\/span>, <em>seq., <\/em>but more probably to an unrecorded campaign.
