In <span class='bible'>1Ch. 21:16<\/span> David <em>sees<\/em> the angel with drawn sword; and the older text (<span class='bible'>2Sa. 24:16-17<\/span>) equally makes the angel a real concrete being, and <em>not<\/em> a personification, as Reuss will have it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sheath<\/strong> (<em>ndn<\/em>)<em>.<\/em>A word only found here. A very similar term is applied to the body as the sheath of the soul in <span class='bible'>Dan. 7:15<\/span>; viz., the Aramaic, <em>nidneh,<\/em> which should, perhaps, be read here.<\/p>\n<p><span class='bible'>1Ch. 21:28<\/span> to <span class='bible'>1Ch. 22:1<\/span>. These concluding remarks are not read in Samuel, but the writer, no doubt, found some basis for them in his special source. They tell us how it was that Omans threshingfloor became recognised as a permanent sanctuary, and the site ordained for the future Temple.
