The Divine election of David preludes that of Solomon (<span class='bible'>1Ch. 28:5<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>For he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler.<\/strong>Better, <em>For Judah it was that he chose for prince <\/em>(<em>ngd<\/em>)<em>, and in the house of Judah, my fathers house.<\/em> (Comp. <span class='bible'>1Ch. 5:2<\/span> and Notes.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>And among the sons of my father he liked me.<\/strong>The expression is scarcely adequate. The verb in the Hebrew is <em>rh,<\/em> which answers to the Hellenistic , to be satisfied, well pleased with. Translate, therefore, It was I in whom He took pleasure.(Comp. <span class='bible'>Pro. 3:12<\/span>.)
