The bowls were used in lustral sprinkling, the golden flagons in libations (<span class='bible'>Exo. 25:29<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Exo. 37:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Num. 4:7<\/span> only).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The golden basons.<\/strong>Tankards, or lidded pitchers (<em>kphrm<\/em>)<em>:<\/em> a word only found here and in <span class='bible'>Ezr. 1:10<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Ezr. 8:27<\/span> (among the sacred vessels restored by Cyrus).<\/p>\n<p><strong>By weight.<\/strong><em>By the<\/em> (required) <em>weight.<\/em> The altar of incense stood within the Holiest (the <em>Dbr,<\/em> or Adytum; <span class='bible'>Exo. 40:5<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>And gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings.<\/strong>Rather, <em>and for the model of the chariot,<\/em> that is, <em>the cherubim<\/em> (he assigned) <em>gold;<\/em> to wit, <em>for beings out-spreading<\/em> (their wings) <em>and overshadowing the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah.<\/em> The two cherubs lying on the (<em>kappreth<\/em>) above the Ark are here called the chariot, with obvious reference to such passages as <span class='bible'>Psa. 18:11<\/span>, where it is said of God, He charioted on a cherub. (Comp. also <span class='bible'>Psa. 99:1<\/span>.) The rest of the verse describes the purpose of the symbolical cherubic figures, in terms borrowed from <span class='bible'>Exo. 25:20<\/span>.
