The same Heb. word is used in Jer 20:7, “thou hast deceived (mg. ‘enticed’) me,” where Jeremiah complains that he has been called to the fruitless labour of a hated prophet. For the underlying thought that delusion is sometimes a preliminary part of Divine punishment cp. 2Th 2:11 (cp. 2Th 2:9). It should be noted however that the “lying spirit” in the month of the 400 prophets played only a subordinate part in Ahab’s fall, and indeed could have played no part at all, but for the fact that the king was more than willing to be enticed. Ahab had already made up his mind; he consulted the 400 only as an afterthought to satisfy Jehoshaphat (2Ch 18:4), he excluded the plain-speaking Micaiah until Jehoshaphat insisted on his presence (2Ch 18:6-7), and he scorned the true prophet’s warning of the falseness of the 400 (2Ch 18:26). Delusion as a Divine punishment comes only upon the man who is willing to be deluded.

Fuente: The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges

[See comments on 2Ch 18:2].

Fuente: John Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible

(19) And one spake, saying.Literally, and one said (i.e., it was spoken), this one saying thus, and that one saying thus. The text is certainly right.

After this manner.Khhh. Kings, bkhh. Kings has, and this one said in this wise, and that one was saying in that wise.

Fuente: Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers (Old and New Testaments)

Who shall entice: 1Ki 22:20, Job 12:16, Isa 6:9, Isa 6:10, Isa 54:16, Eze 14:9, 2Th 2:11, 2Th 2:12, Jam 1:13, Jam 1:14

go up: 2Ch 25:8, 2Ch 25:19, Pro 11:5

Reciprocal: Jdg 9:23 – God 2Ch 18:21 – Thou shalt 2Ch 18:34 – he died Jer 23:31 – He Mic 2:11 – a man Zec 6:5 – go 1Co 2:4 – not 1Ti 4:1 – seducing

Fuente: The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?
