There is however no connexion, as commentators have supposed, between the Hebrew words used here and a similar root meaning &lsquo;a pledge.&rsquo; The Vulgate, adopting a different derivation, has &lsquo;vanitate seducti sumus.&rsquo; The LXX. rendering     and that of a few MSS.     (Field&rsquo;s Orig. Hex.) show the uncertainty as to the meaning. Elsewhere in the O.T. the word occurs in <span class='bible'>Job 17:1<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Isa 13:5<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Isa 32:7<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Isa 54:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Pro 13:13<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mic 2:10<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Son 2:15<\/span>. The substantive derived from the root here used is rendered &lsquo;hurt&rsquo; <span class='bible'>Dan 6:23<\/span>. It is found with the same meaning as in this verse <span class='bible'>Job 34:31<\/span> &lsquo;I will not offend any more.&rsquo;<\/p>\n<p><em> commandments  statutes  judgments<\/em> ] The three words occur together in <span class='bible'>Deu 5:31<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Deu 6:1<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Deu 7:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Deu 8:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Deu 11:1<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em> which thou commandedst<\/em> ] e.g. <span class='bible'>Deu 6:1<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em> thy servant Moses<\/em> ] and <span class='bible'>Neh 1:8<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Neh 9:18<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&lsquo;The servant of the Lord&rsquo; was a favourite title applied to Moses. In Joshua it occurs with great frequency (e.g. <span class='bible'>Jos 1:1-2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Jos 1:7<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Jos 1:13<\/span>, &amp;c.). Elsewhere it is found in 1Ki 8:53 ; <span class='bible'>1Ki 8:56<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Ki 18:12<\/span>; 2Ki 21:8 ; <span class='bible'>2Ch 1:3<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Psa 105:26<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mal 4:4<\/span>. He is called &lsquo;the servant of God&rsquo; in <span class='bible'>Neh 10:29<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch 6:49<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Dan 9:11<\/span>; &lsquo;the man of God&rsquo; <span class='bible'>Ezr 3:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch 23:14<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Psalms 90<\/span>. (title). Cf. in the New Testament the description of Moses as the &lsquo;faithful servant&rsquo; in <span class='bible'>Heb 3:2-5<\/span>, and <span class='bible'>Rev 15:3<\/span>. The LXX.
