It may have been one of the defences on the eastern side of the Temple.<\/p>\n even unto the wall of Ophel<\/em> ] R.V. and unto the wall of Ophel.<\/strong> This is clearly the same wall as that mentioned in 2Ch 27:3<\/span>; 2Ch 33:14<\/span>.<\/p>\n The Tekoites; <\/B>the same spoken of before, Neh 3:5<\/span>, who having despatched their first share sooner than their brethren had done theirs, freely offered their help to supply the defects of others, who, as it seems, neglected that part of the work which had been committed to them. And this their double diligence is noted, both for the greater shame of their nobles, who would not do ally part of it, Neh 3:5<\/span>, and for their own greater honour, who were so far from being corrupted by the bad example of their nobles, that they were rather quickened and inflamed to greater zeal and industry in this public and pious work. <\/P> <\/p>\n After them the Tekoites repaired another piece<\/strong>,…. Having finished what they undertook in another part of the wall, Ne 3:5<\/span>, they engage in this part of it; which shows their great zeal and diligence, when their nobles were so backward to it, and withdrew from it:<\/p>\n over against the great tower that lieth out<\/strong>; the same as in the preceding verse:<\/p>\n even unto the wall of Ophel<\/strong>; from right against the great tower unto the wall the Tekoites repaired.<\/p>\n (27) After them.<\/strong>Literally, after him,<\/em> referring to Pedaiah of Neh. 3:25<\/span>.<\/p>\n 27<\/strong>. <\/strong> Tekoites repaired another piece <\/strong> In addition to what they had done on the outer wall. Neh 3:5<\/span>. The great tower that lieth out <\/strong> was apparently a tower noted for its great size, or height, and not identified with the one mentioned in the two preceding verses. It seems to have been connected with the wall of Ophel<\/strong>, which latter was identical with, or a continuation of, that on which Jotham and Manasseh had built. See 2Ch 27:3<\/span>; 2Ch 33:14<\/span>, notes.<\/p>\n ‘After him the Tekoites repaired another (a second) portion, over against the great tower that stands out (projecting tower), and unto the wall of Ophel.’<\/p>\n The Tekoites were also involved in Neh 3:5<\/span>, which see. This is thus the second portion for which they were responsible. It was adjacent to the Projecting Tower. They repaired ‘unto the wall of Ophel’ (compare 2Ch 27:3<\/span> where Jotham ‘built much on the wall of Ophel).
