Neh 11:19 ; <span class='bible'>1Ch 9:17<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em> at the thresholds of the gates<\/em> ] R.V. <strong> at the storehouses of the gates.<\/strong> The A.V. gives the rendering which is favoured by the Vulgate &lsquo;vestibulorum ante portas,&rsquo; and by the chief Hebrew commentators, e.g. Rashi and Aben Ezra. The R.V. however is undoubtedly right. The Hebrew only occurs elsewhere in the O.T. in <span class='bible'>1Ch 26:15<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch 26:17<\/span>, &lsquo;storehouse.&rsquo; The temple was a treasury as well as a sanctuary.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><P STYLE=\"text-indent: 0.75em\">In <span class='_0000ff'><U>1Ch 9:17<\/U><\/span>, <span class='bible'>1Ch 9:24<\/span>, <span class='bible'>1Ch 9:26<\/span>, four families of porters only are mentioned; six are implied here, in <span class='bible'>Neh 7:45<\/span>, and in <span class='bible'>Ezr 2:42<\/span>.
