She sent out her branches unto the sea,<\/p>\n And her shoots unto the River (R.V.),<\/p>\n spreading westward to the Mediterranean, and eastward to the Euphrates, boundaries approximately realised in the time of David and Solomon. The word is usually applied to little children, and means here the little branches that are nourished by the parent vine.<\/P> Unto the river – <\/B>The Euphrates, for so the river usually means in the Scriptures. The Mediterranean, or midland sea, which was the border of the land of Canaan to the west:<\/p>\n and her branches unto the river<\/strong>; the river Euphrates, which was its border to the east; see De 11:24<\/span>. This, in the spiritual sense of it, will have its accomplishment in the church of Christ, when he shall have dominion from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth, Ps 72:8<\/span>. The Targum is,<\/p>\n “she sent out her disciples to the great sea, and to the river Euphrates her babes;”<\/p>\n or sucklings.<\/p>\n (11) The sea . . .<\/strong> the river<\/strong>i.e.,<\/em> the Mediterranean and the Euphrates, the limits of the Solomonic empire. The enemies and destroyers of Israel are represented under the idea of a boar <\/em>or wild beast. <\/em>Theodoret says, that Nebuchadnezzar was meant by the Psalmist; and that he terms him very properly the wild beast of the field, <\/em>because he was more fierce than any other monarch. <\/p>\n Psa 80:11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.<\/p>\n Ver. 11.
