The other the posterity of Abraham by Jokshan, <span class='bible'>Gen 25:3<\/span>. It seemeth to be a city of Idumea, <span class='bible'>Jer 49:8<\/span>. <I>Tema<\/I> descended from Ishmael, <span class='bible'>Gen 25:15<\/span>; his posterity inhabited in Arabia, <span class='bible'>Isa 21:14<\/span>, where they are joined with those of Dedan. <I>Buz<\/I> was one of the posterity of Nahor, <span class='bible'>Gen 22:21<\/span>. These were people mixed with the Saracens or Arabians. <\/P> <P><B>All that are in the utmost corners; <\/B>that dwell in the corners or furthest parts of the world. These seem to be places in Edom or Idumea, of whose destruction Jeremiah prophesies in <span class='bible'>Jer 49:7<\/span>; or rather in Arabia and Mesopotamia. Jerom reckons them among the Ishmaelites and Saracens, The persons from whom they descended are mentioned in <span class='bible'>Ge 22:21<\/span>;<\/p>\n<p><strong>and all [that are] in the utmost corners<\/strong>; that is, either of the above countries, or of the whole earth: or &#8220;all that had their hair shorn&#8221; m; or the corners of their beards; which Jerom says is applicable to the Saracens.<\/p>\n<p>m    &#8220;universis qui attonsi sunt in comam&#8221;, V. (142) After having spoken of nations so very remote, that he might not by prolixity be tedious, he mentions  all the extreme ones in a corner,  that is, those who were bounded by the farthest limits. As to  Dedan, Tema, and Buz,  we know that these countries derived their names from their founders. Who Dedan was, we learn from Moses, and also who Tema and Buz were. (<span class='bible'>Gen 25:3<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ch 5:14<\/span>.) Two of them were descendants of Abraham by Keturah.  (143) There is no need of saying more of these countries, for they are not known by us at this day, and we cannot learn from geographers the extent of any of these countries; for there was hardly a place at the time when heathen writers began their records, which had not long before changed its name. For Tema, on the modern pilgrims road from Damascus to Mecca, see <span class='bible'>Isa. 21:14<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Job. 6:19<\/span>. For Buz see <span class='bible'>Gen. 22:21<\/span>. The fact that the travelling companies of Dedanim (<span class='bible'>Isa. 21:13<\/span>) carried on the trade between Tyre and Arabia (<span class='bible'>Eze. 27:15<\/span>) accounts in part for their mention here.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All that are in the utmost corners.<\/strong>The marginal reading gives the true meaning<em>all that have the corners of their temples shorn. <\/em>(See Note on <span class='bible'>Jer. 9:26<\/span>.) The words point to the nomad tribes of Kedar, who were distinguished by this peculiarity. For mingled people, see Note on <span class='bible'>Jer. 25:20<\/span>.
