Deliver thee, give thee up, <\/P>
into the hand, to the power and will, <\/P>
of them whom thou hatest: those shall be the masters, and domineer over thee, whom of all men thou didst most desire might not. It is doubled for certainty of the thing, and to make deeper impression; they shall certainly lord it over thee, whom of all men thou dost most loathe. <\/P> <\/p>\n
28.<\/B> (Eze 23:17<\/span>;Eze 23:18<\/span>; Eze 16:37<\/span>).<\/P><\/p>\n For thus saith the Lord God, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest<\/strong>,…. The Chaldeans and Babylonians, before loved by her, and doted upon, but now hated and rebelled against; and to fall into such hands must be a sore judgment; and this the Lord threatens to bring upon the Jews for their sins; and he having said it, it might be depended upon it would be performed; and, for the greater certainty of it, it is repeated in different words:<\/p>\n into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated<\/strong>;<\/p>\n [See comments on Eze 23:17]<\/span>.<\/p>\n “And her prophets have daubed for them with untempered mortar, seeing vanity and divining lies to them, saying ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh’ when Yahweh has not spoken.”<\/p>\n As with the royal masters, so with the aristocrats, the prophets had become their tools. They had ‘covered them with whitewash’ to hide their deficiencies, using unfit mortar to repair what was broken down, so that it finished up no better than it was. They had used false means and ‘revealed’ what was in fact vain, indeed whatever vanity their aristocratic masters desired. By divination they had falsely divined what was untrue. And they have had the presumption to put their words into the mouth of Yahweh, even though Yahweh had not spoken them. Popular false teachers and preachers are plentiful in every age.<\/p>\n Oholibah (Jerusalem) Will Drink of The Cup of Suffering and Desolation.<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n ‘For thus says the Lord Yahweh, “Behold I will deliver you into the hands of those whom you hate, into the hand of those from whom your soul is alienated. And they will deal with you in hatred, and will take away all your labour, and will leave you naked and bare. And the nakedness of your whoredoms will be discovered, both your lewdness and your whoredoms.”<\/p>\n Now the relationship between her and her ex-lovers is one of unadulterated hatred. All that she had hoped to gain from it will be lost, for she will be stripped of all that she has. What she has worked and toiled for, the fruit of her labour, will be taken away. But most of all she will be openly revealed as what she is in the multiplicity of her sins. She will be an object of disgust and contempt.<\/p>\n When those who have once professed to know and serve God turn away from Him at the enticement of other things, their way is far worse even than that of those who have never known. They lose on every count.<\/p>\n Eze 23:28 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand [of them] whom thou hatest, into the hand [of them] from whom thy mind is alienated:<\/p>\n Ver. 28. I will deliver thee.<\/strong> ] God hath a holy hand in all the evils that befall his people, by whomsoever.<\/p>\n Eze 23:28-31<\/p>\n Eze 23:28-31<\/p>\n “For thus saith the Lord Jehovah; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy soul is alienated; and they shall deal with thee in hatred, and shall take away all thy labor, and shall leave thee naked and bare; and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be uncovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. These things shall be done unto thee, for thou hast played the harlot after the nations, and because thou art polluted with their idols. Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thy hand.”<\/p>\n “All of these things shall be done unto thee, for thou hast just played the harlot after the nations …” (Eze 23:30). The complete understanding of what God meant in this chapter is here cleared up. “The allegorical picture-language is omitted. Not lovers, but nations are referred to, with whom Israel has played the whore. But in the very same verse the second reason for Judah’s punishment was given. Let it be remembered that this is in addition to the first reason: “And because thou art polluted with their idols”! So, it was actually whoredom, after all, namely, shameless indulgence in the wholesale immorality of the religious licentious of the pagan idols that was also a vital element in precipitating the terrible punishment that fell upon the people of God. This fact makes the meaning and fully justifies the repulsive terminology employed in the presentation of this remarkable allegory.<\/p>\n To speak of Judah’s sin here as “nothing more than the seeking of political alliances” is to miss the point altogether.<\/p>\n whom thou: Eze 23:17, Eze 23:22, Eze 16:37, Jer 21:7-10, Jer 24:8, Jer 34:20 <\/p>\n Reciprocal: Jer 4:30 – in vain Lam 1:14 – delivered Eze 5:11 – thou hast Eze 16:27 – delivered Eze 31:11 – delivered<\/p>\n Eze 23:28. Whom thou hatest is to be understood in the same sense as mind is alienated, that was explained at verse 22.<\/p>\n Eze 23:28-30. Behold, I will deliver thee, &c. I will give thee up into the power of the Chaldeans, whom thou wast formerly fond of, Eze 23:22; but since thou hast broken thy league and friendship with them, thy love is turned into hatred: see Eze 23:17. They shall deal with thee hatefully, &c. As thou hast changed thy friendship for them into enmity, so shall they deal with thee; their hatred against thee shall be greater than their former love toward thee. This shall prompt them to take a full revenge upon thy perfidiousness, to consume all the fruits of thy labours, and to take away all the wealth thou hast gathered by thine industry. Thy whoredoms shall be discovered All thy foul and shameful deeds shall be brought to light. I will do these things, because thou hast gone a whoring, &c. I will cause all these things to be done unto thee by the Babylonians, who are the executioners of my anger.<\/p>\n The Lord also announced that He would turn Jerusalem over to those whom she had come to hate, namely, the Babylonians.
