The Targum is,<\/p>\n “when I shall give (or set) people that are strong as fire against Egypt;”<\/p>\n the army of the Chaldeans:<\/p>\n and when all her helpers shall be destroyed<\/strong>; her auxiliaries, the neighbouring nations in alliance with them, before mentioned.<\/p>\n 8<\/strong>. <\/strong> The day of the Lord is near <\/strong> The day when accounts shall be settled and punishment or reward meted out to the nations; a day of darkness to the wicked and rebellious, a day of triumph to the righteous (Eze 7:7<\/span>; Amo 5:8<\/span>; Jeremiah 27<\/span>). One of these times of divine settlement seemed near, and was near.
