Here it is evident that on the W. of the house the margin or &ldquo;that which was left&rdquo; of the raised basement does not appear. It existed only on two sides N. and S., where the doors of the side-chambers opened from it; on the W. the &ldquo;separate place&rdquo; skirted the wall of the side-chambers.<\/p>\n<p><em> separate place, and the building<\/em> ] The &ldquo;building&rdquo; here (though spelled differently) can be no other than that mentioned <span class='bible'><em> Eze 41:12<\/em><\/span>, Fig. 3, K. Also the breadth of the house, and of the separate place towards the east, a hundred cubits. And he measured the length of the building before the separate place, which was at the back of it, and its galleries on the one side and on the other side, a hundred cubits.&rsquo;<\/p>\n<p> The point is not so much the measurement as the perfect symmetry. This was the ideal temple, a suitable dwelling place for God. It was the heavenly temple and could not be built by man. All man&rsquo;s feeble efforts would produce but a poor imitation. Yet as they worshipped in what they did build they were ever aware that what they worshipped in represented this glorious heavenly structure.<\/p>\n<p> The hundred cubits long of the house is made up of the post (5 cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 40:48<\/span>), the vestibule (11 cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 40:49<\/span>), the post (six cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 41:1<\/span>), the holy place (40 cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 41:2<\/span>), the post (2 cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 41:3<\/span>), the holiest of all (20 cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 41:4<\/span>), the wall (6 cubits &#8211; (<span class='bible'>Eze 41:5<\/span>), the side chamber (4 cubits &#8211; <span class='bible'>Eze 41:5<\/span>) and the outer wall &#8211; 5 cubits (<span class='bible'>Eze 41:9<\/span>), making 99 cubits. The pillars at the front (<span class='bible'>Eze 40:49<\/span>) were presumable one cubit in diameter.<\/p>\n<p> The hundred cubits across is the measurement of the rear building (90 cubits + two 5 cubit walls). Each was 100 cubits (166 feet 8 inches) from front to back. The distance from the back of the main temple structure to the back of the building behind the temple, including an open space of 20 cubits (33 feet 4 inches) that separated the two structures, was also 100 cubits (166 feet 8 inches).
