The last clause of the verse, as it stands, admits of no satisfactory explanation. The suggestion that it may refer to twenty out of the thirty chambers in the outer court of the sanctuary (Eze. 40:17) is quite out of place. Even if these were intended for the use of the Levites (which does not appear), it would be strange that they should be abruptly spoken of in the midst of this description of the oblation. A slight change in the textthe transposition of two letters in the first word, and the change of one letter in the second for another much like itwill make the clause read, for a possession of gates to dwell in, gates being used, as in Deu. 12:18; Deu. 14:27; Deu. 16:11 (comp. Exo. 20:10; Deu. 5:14), for cities. The sense would then be that this portion should be to the Levites what the former portion was to the priests, a place for their dwellings.

Fuente: Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers (Old and New Testaments)

“And twenty five thousand in length by ten thousand in breadth shall be to the Levites, the ministers of the house, for a possession to themselves, for twenty chambers.”

A further allocation of land is to be given to the Levites, of similar size to that given to the priests. This would seem to be seen by Ezekiel as south of the first holy portion (see Eze 48:8), and would seem from Eze 45:6 and Eze 48:14 also to be a holy portion. The ‘twenty chambers’ presumably means twenty sets of living quarters and should therefore be thought of as twenty clusters of housing. Again there is a deliberate avoiding of the use of the term ‘city’ (as was also true with the priests). The usage is possibly also to tie this in with the idea of the outer ‘chambers’ in the heavenly temple, places for the use of temple servants. Thus another portion of land strongly expressing the covenant relationship is connected to the heavenly temple, although outside the holy portion.

Fuente: Commentary Series on the Bible by Peter Pett

Eze 45:5. And the five and twenty thousand, &c. And there shall be other five and twenty thousand of length, and ten thousand of breadth; and it shall be for the Levites, the ministers of the house, for them for a possession; twenty ranges of building: or, as some render the last clause, for cities to dwell in. See Archbishop Newcombe on this passage.

Fuente: Commentary on the Holy Bible by Thomas Coke

Eze 45:5 And the five and twenty thousand of length, and the ten thousand of breadth, shall also the Levites, the ministers of the house, have for themselves, for a possession for twenty chambers.

Ver. 5. For twenty chambers, ] i.e., For twenty rows of chambers.

Fuente: John Trapp’s Complete Commentary (Old and New Testaments)

for = as.

for twenty chambers: or, of cities to dwell in.

Fuente: Companion Bible Notes, Appendices and Graphics

the five: Eze 48:10, Eze 48:13, Eze 48:20

the ministers: 1Co 9:13, 1Co 9:14

for a possession: Eze 40:17, 1Ch 9:26-33, Neh 10:38, Neh 10:39

Reciprocal: Jer 33:18 – General Eze 45:1 – the length

Fuente: The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Eze 45:5.
