We have already met this word in ch. <span class='bible'>Mar 9:15<\/span>, where it was applied to the <em> amazement<\/em> of the people when they saw the Lord after the Transfiguration, and we shall meet with it again in ch. <span class='bible'>Mar 16:5-6<\/span>, where it is applied to the holy women at the Sepulchre. St Mark alone applies the word to our Lord&rsquo;s sensations at this crisis of His life.<\/p>\n<p><em> to be very heavy<\/em> ] &ldquo;to heuye,&rdquo; Wyclif. The original word thus translated only occurs (1) here, (2) in the parallel, <span class='bible'>Mat 26:37<\/span>, and (3) in <span class='bible'>Php 2:26<\/span>, &ldquo;for he (Epaphroditus) longed after you all, and was <em> full of heaviness<\/em>.&rdquo; Buttmann suggests that the root idea is that of being &ldquo; <em> away from home<\/em>,&rdquo; and so &ldquo;confused,&rdquo; &ldquo;beside oneself.&rdquo; Others consider the primary idea to be that of &ldquo;loathing&rdquo; and &ldquo;discontent.&rdquo; Truly in respect to His human nature our Lord was <em> far from home<\/em>, far from His native skies, and the word may be taken to describe the awfulness of His isolation, unsupported by a particle of human sympathy, a troubled, restless state, accompanied by the keenest mental distress.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><strong>And he taketh with him Peter, and James, and John<\/strong>,&#8230;. Mark alone uses <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span> (here and in <span class='bible'>9:15<\/span>). There is a papyrus example given by Moulton and Milligan&#8217;s <I>Vocabulary<\/I>. The verb <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span> occurs in <span class='bible'>Mr 10:32<\/span> for the amazement of the disciples at the look of Jesus as he went toward Jerusalem. Now Jesus himself feels amazement as he directly faces the struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane. He wins the victory over himself in Gethsemane and then he can endure the loss, despising the shame.
