And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. <\/i><\/b><\/h3>\n<p> <strong> 64<\/strong>. <em> they all condemned him<\/em> ] Worse than false prophet, worse than false Messiah, He had declared Himself to be the &ldquo; <em> Son of God<\/em>,&rdquo; and that in the presence of the high-priest and the great Council. He had incurred the capital penalty. But though they thus passed sentence, they could not execute it. The right had been taken from them ever since Juda became a Roman province. (Also see on <span class='bible'>Joh18:28<\/span>.) <\/P><P>       <B>what think ye?<\/B>&#8220;Saywhat the verdict is to be.&#8221; <\/P><P>       <B>they all condemned him to beguilty of death<\/B>or of a capital crime, which <I>blasphemy<\/I>against God was according to the Jewish law (<span class='bible'>Le24:16<\/span>). This would mean that Joseph of Arimathea was not present since he did not consent to the death of Jesus (<span class='bible'>Lu 23:51<\/span>). Nicodemus was apparently absent also, probably not invited because of previous sympathy with Jesus (<span class='bible'>Joh 7:50<\/span>).
