The answer of the Apostle shewed the sad truth that Jesus had come to His own possessions and<\/p>\n<p> His own people received Him not; that the Light had shined in the darkness, and the darkness had not comprehended it. He had not come to <em> force belief,<\/em> but to <em> win conviction.<\/em> He had never even openly proclaimed His Messiahship, but left His works to speak for Him. Accusative and infinitive in indirect assertion, a common Greek idiom. <span class='bible'>Mt 16:13<\/span> for &#8220;I&#8221; has &#8220;the Son of man&#8221; as identical in the consciousness of Christ.
