Pointing to Jesus, who stood before him;<\/p>\n<p><strong>as one that perverteth the people<\/strong>; from their religion, and laws, and allegiance to Caesar. The Syriac and Persic versions read, &#8220;your people&#8221;; of the same nation with them, and that were under their care and jurisdiction; at least in an ecclesiastical way:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and behold, I having examined him before you<\/strong>; not only privately, and alone, between themselves in the judgment hall, <span class='bible'>Joh 18:33<\/span> but openly in the presence of them, when he brought forth Jesus to them, and heard their charges, and urged him to answer to them,<\/p>\n<p> <span class='bible'>Mt 27:11<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>have found no fault in this man<\/strong>; cannot perceive any charge proved against him, or any crime he is guilty of, for which punishment should be inflicted on him; or at least, that he should be put to death:<\/p>\n<p><strong>touching<\/strong>, or with regard to<\/p>\n<p><strong>those things, whereof ye accuse him<\/strong>. The Syriac and Persic versions read, &#8220;all those things&#8221;; intimating, that he had carefully looked into, and examined every thing, and had omitted nothing, and that all their accusations, and charges, put together, did not make it appear that he was guilty of a single crime.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><P> <B>As one that perverteth the people <\/B> (<span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\">   <\/SPAN><\/span>). Pilate here condenses the three charges in verse <span class='bible'>2<\/span> into one (Plummer). He uses a more common compound of <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span> here, <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span>, to turn away from, to seduce, to mislead, whereas <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span> in verse <span class='bible'>2<\/span> has more the notion of disturbing (turning this way and that). Note the use of <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span> with the particle, the alleged reason. Pilate understands the charge against Jesus to be that he is a revolutionary agitator and a dangerous rival to Caesar, treason in plain words.<\/P> <P><B>Having examined him before you <\/B> (<span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\">  <\/SPAN><\/span>). Right before your eyes I have given him a careful examination (<span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span>) up and down, <span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span>, to judge, sift. Old and common verb in the general sense and in the forensic sense as here and which Luke alone has in the N.T. (<span class='bible'>Luke 23:14<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luke 4:9<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luke 12:19<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luke 28:18<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Acts 24:8<\/span>) except <span class='bible'>1Co 9:3<\/span>.<\/P> <P><B>Whereof <\/B> (<span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span>). Another compound of strefw, to turn; diastrefonta is rendered by the same word in ver. 2. Probably the words are used without any intentional distinction of meaning. <\/P> <P>Diastrefonta implies more of the idea of distraction (compare Wyc., turning upside down); turning different ways; while ajpostrefonta emphasizes the turning away [<span class='_800000'><SPAN LANG=\"el-GR\"><\/SPAN><\/span>] of the people from their civil and religious allegiance.
