This rite of sprinkling the altar seven times is not mentioned in the directions given in <span class='bible'>Exo. 30:28<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Exo. 40:10<\/span>. The altar, having thus been sanctified, was thenceforward considered as sanctifying the sacrifices and oblations offered upon it. Hence the remark of Christ, Ye fools and blind, for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift ? See <span class='bible'>Lev 4:6<\/span>, note. The perfect consecration of Aaron is alluded to in <span class='bible'>Heb 7:28<\/span>, in connection with our High Priest, &ldquo;who is consecrated (  , <em> perfected<\/em>) forever.&rdquo; In the Seventy the term &ldquo;consecration&rdquo; is translated  , <em> making perfect. <span class='bible'>Lev 8:33<\/span><\/em>. Hence Jesus is spoken of as fully prepared for his priestly office when he is said to have been made perfect through sufferings. <span class='bible'>Heb 2:10<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Heb 5:8-9<\/span>.
