Are the Burnt-Offerings which have been already offered, or any of them, regarded as ‘the burnt offering of the morning’? or are these last words (so Dillm.) the gloss of a later scribe?<\/p>\n The meat-offering<\/B> was always to be added to the burnt offering. See Le 6<\/span>. The burnt-sacrifice of the morning was to be first offered every morning; for God will not have his ordinary and stated service swallowed up by extraordinary. <\/P> <\/p>\n 17-21. meat offering . . . waveoffering<\/B>It is observable that there is no notice taken ofthese in the offerings the priests made for themselves. They couldnot bear their own sins: and therefore, instead of eating any part oftheir own sin offering, as they were at liberty to do in the case ofthe people’s offering, they had to carry the whole carcasses “without<\/I>the camp and burn them with fire” [Exo 29:14<\/span>;Lev 4:12<\/span>].<\/P><\/p>\n And he brought the meat offering<\/strong>,…. Accordingly Aaron began his priestly functions by first offering the daily morning sacrifice which took precedence of all other sacrifices, and which was never superseded by the extra offerings: then followed the other sacrifices here described.<\/p>\n 17<\/strong>. <\/strong> Meat offering burnt sacrifice <\/strong> “The difference between the burnt offering <\/strong> and the meat offering <\/strong> was this: in the burnt offering the surrender of a life figured man’s duty to God; while fruits in the meat offering represented man’s duty to his neighbour.” Jukes. <\/em> For the time when the fire was actually applied to all the offerings of this chapter, see Concluding Note.<\/p>\n ‘And he presented the grain offering, and filled his hand from it, and burnt it on the altar, besides the whole burnt offering of the morning.’ <\/p>\n After this he took a handful of the grain offering as a memorial and burned it on the altar ‘besides the whole burnt offering of the morning’. This presumably meant the whole burnt offering that he had just offered. It was the morning offering on behalf of the people. From this time on this lamb (LXX amnon, compare Joh 1:29<\/span>) for a whole burnt offering would be offered morning and afternoon continually. <\/p>\n Lev 9:17<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. <\/strong>Beside the burnt-sacrifice of the morning<\/em><\/strong><\/strong> Hence we learn, that Aaron began his sacred function with the daily morning-sacrifice: this sacrifice was accompanied with a bread-offering; Exo 29:40<\/span>.
