And there are some undeniable instances of their sacrificing there, as <span class='bible'>Exo 18:12<\/span> <span class='bible'>24<\/span>:4; <span class='bible'>Num 7<\/span>, &amp;c.; from which it seems rational to conclude that they did offer sacrifices at other times, though not so constantly and diligently as they did in Canaan. And for the argument against it from <span class='bible'>Amo 5:25<\/span>, that may be easily dissolved, as we shall there see, if the Lord please. Bishop Patrick supposes it might be carried upon the grate.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p> The altar of burnt-offering was first of all to be cleansed from the ashes; a crimson cloth was then to be covered over it, and the whole of the furniture belonging to it to be placed upon the top; and lastly, the whole was to be covered with a sea-cow skin. The only thing not mentioned is the copper laver (<span class='bible'>Exo 30:18<\/span>), probably because it was carried without any cover at all. The statement in the Septuagint and the Samaritan text, which follows <span class='bible'>Num 4:14<\/span>. respecting its covering and conveyance upon a frame, is no doubt a spurious interpolation.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Keil &amp; Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Verses 13-15:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The &#8220;altar&#8221; in this text is the Altar of Burnt Offering, <\/strong>upon which the many sacrifices were made. This was a hollow box-like affair, with a grate suspended within it upon which the offerings were placed, see Ex 27:1-8; 38:1-7.<\/p>\n<p>The altar was first to be cleaned of ashes, then covered with a purple cloth. The utensils and appliances were stored in the hollow altar, and all was then covered with badgers&#8217; skins. The staves were then inserted into the rings prepared for that purpose.<\/p>\n<p>When Aaron and his sons had completed the work of preparing the furniture and utensils for moving, then the Kohathites were to transport them.
