The bullock, ram, and seven lambs, were offered on this day, besides the two bullocks, one ram, and seven lambs, which were offered on it, on account of its being the first day of the month and besides the meat offering that went along with them; these were not omitted on account of those additional sacrifices:<\/p>\n and the daily burnt offering<\/strong>; the two lambs of the daily sacrifice; these also were offered as usual, so that there were offered on this day three bullocks, two rams, and sixteen lambs:<\/p>\n and his meat offering, and their drink offerings, according to their manner<\/strong>; these also were offered with the daily sacrifice, according to the law and rule prescribed for the making of them, and all were<\/p>\n for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord<\/strong>; for they were burnt sacrifices, and very acceptable to the Lord, as they were types of the better sacrifice, with which he is infinitely well pleased; and it is with respect to that that such a number of sacrifices were appointed.<\/p>\n (6) Beside the burnt offering of the month.<\/strong>Better, of the new moon. <\/em>(See Num. 28:11<\/span>, where the burnt offering of the beginning of the month is described.)<\/p>\n Num 29:6<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. <\/strong>According unto their manner<\/em><\/strong><\/strong> That is, according to the order which God appointed: which was this; first, the morning daily sacrifice was offered; then the sacrifices for the first day of every month; and, lastly, the additional sacrifices appointed for this first day of the seventh month.<\/em> <\/p>\n REFLECTIONS.<\/strong>The seventh month was distinguished by more solemnities than any other. The first day was ushered in with the feast of trumpets, preparatory to the day of atonement. We need continual and loud calls to repentance. The sacrifices to be offered, were a bullock, a ram, and seven lambs, with their several oblations; besides those which must be offered at a new moon, and the daily burnt sacrifice. We must not suppose that extraordinary duties excuse us from daily stated services. When we have waited upon God in the great congregation, or secretly among the faithful, we must not neglect our family devotions, nor slight the work of secret prayer. <\/p>\n Beside = in addition to.
