The Pesh. <em> Sirion<\/em> is probably derived from <span class='bible'>Deu 3:9<\/span>. The Heb. Si&rsquo;n (not to be confounded with the Jerusalem iyyon, A.V. Zion) means <em> elevation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em> eastward<\/em> ] <em> ad orientem<\/em>, P&rsquo;s equivalent for D&rsquo;s <em> towards the sunrising<\/em>. A city of Moab, which was situated on the bank of the river Arnon, that was on the border of Moab, <span class='bible'>De 2:36<\/span>,<\/p>\n<p><strong>even unto Mount Sion, which [is] Hermon<\/strong>; the meaning is, that the lands of these two kings conquered by Israel reached from the city Aroer on the river Arnon to Mount Hermon, the one being the southern, the other the northern boundary of them. Here Hermon has another name Sion, and is to be carefully distinguished from Mount Zion near Jerusalem; it lying in a different country, and being written with a different letter in the Hebrew language. The mountain of Hermon is probably called <em>Sion, <\/em>by an abbreviation of <em>Sirion. <\/em>We must take care not to confound this with that mount Sion which was on the other side of Jordan, and in after-times the royal seat of David. In the Syriac version we read <em>Sirion; <\/em>and possibly this is a mere fault of the copyists. Benjamin of Tudela, in his Itinerary, says, that Jordan is called, at Tiberias, <em>the sea of Gennesareth; <\/em>and that coming from thence, with a great force, it falls at the foot of this hill into the sea of Sodom, which is called <em>the Salt Sea. <\/em>This account perfectly agrees with Moses&#8217;s description in the next verse. <\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Commentary on the Holy Bible by Thomas Coke<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p>Sion.
