As not from giving him the first tithe, as Jarchi remarks, so he was not to forget him in this; he was not to leave him behind, but take him with him to partake of this entertainment:<\/p>\n<p><strong>for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee in the land<\/strong>: see <span class='bible'>De 12:12<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Verses 27-29:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each third year, Israel was to place the tithe of all their increase in storage in their cities, and not to bring it to the sanctuary. The purpose of this was to provide sustenance for:<\/p>\n<p style='margin-left:1em'>(1) The Levites.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-left:1em'>(2) The stranger, the poor non-Israeli living in the Land.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-left:1.005em'>(3) The fatherless, or orphan.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-left:1.005em'>(4) The widow.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone in these categories who was in need could partake of those tithes stored in the cities.<\/p>\n<p>This was not an additional tithe, but a different application of the required tithe. It was God&#8217;s way of teaching Israel the practice of true hospitality, and thus to partake of the character of Jehovah, the God of compassion.<\/p>\n<p>True compassion for the needy is a hallmark of God&#8217;s faithful child today, <span class='bible'>Rom 12:13<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Pe 4:9<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Heb 13:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ti 5:10<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Garner-Howes Baptist Commentary<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p> It is pleasing to observe the care GOD hath for the Levite.
