The Mediterranean sea:<\/p>\n<p><strong>to Michmethah on the north side<\/strong>; of the border, the same on which Bethhoron was, from whence the border proceeded on to this place, of which we have no other account but in <span class='bible'>Jos 17:7<\/span>; by which it appears to have been near Shechem, and in sight of it;<\/p>\n<p><strong>and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh<\/strong>; this seems to be the same Jerom e calls Thenath in the tribe of Joseph; and who observes there was in his day a village of this name ten miles from Neapolis (or Shechem) to the east, as you go down to Jordan:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and passed by it on the east to Janohah<\/strong>: which the above writer f wrongly calls Janon, and says, that in his time a village of this name was shown in the country of Acrabatena, twelve miles to the east from Neapolis or Shechem; the border passed by Taanath on the east of it, and went on this place.<\/p>\n<p>e De loc. Here the sentence should end, for to <strong> Michmethah <\/strong> evidently belongs to the northern boundary, and to another sentence. <strong> Toward the sea<\/strong>, then, completes the account of the boundary in the southwest. We would commence a new sentence with the word <strong> Michmethah<\/strong>, and render, <em> Michmethah was on the north side. <\/em> Or perhaps it would be better to emend the reading by means of the parallel in <span class='bible'>Jos 17:7<\/span>, and read, <em> The <\/em> <em> border was from Asher to Michmethah on the north. <\/em> Michmethah is there said to lie <em> before Shechem, <\/em> but that is indefinite. It is generally supposed to have been northeast of Shechem, but the exact site is unknown. <\/p>\n<p><strong> Went about <\/strong> That is, fetched a circuit, or slightly turned its course, <strong> eastward unto Taanath-shiloh<\/strong>. This is not improbably identical with Ain Tana, about eight miles southeast of Shechem. <strong> Janohah <\/strong> is still preserved in the village of Yanun, about two miles south of Ain Tana. Van de Velde says that &ldquo;entire houses and walls of the ancient city are still existing, but covered with immense heaps of earth and rubbish.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Whedon&#8217;s Commentary on the Old and New Testaments<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><strong><em>Ver. <\/em><\/strong><strong>6. <\/strong><strong><em>And the border went out toward the sea, <\/em><\/strong><strong>&amp;c.<\/strong> The whole verse is very obscure: all that we can observe upon it is, that the portion of Ephraim was inclosed on the north by a line, which went from Upper Beth-horon, among others, to Michmethah, in the way to the Mediterranean, but on the north of that city drew near a little on the east towards <em>Taanah-shiloh, <\/em>and went on to <em>Janohah. <\/em>From ch. <span class=''>Jos 17:7<\/span> it appears, that <em>Michmethah <\/em>was opposite <em>Sichem. <\/em>Taanah-shiloh is probably the same as <em>Taanach, <\/em>ch. <span class=''>Jos 17:11<\/span> which Eusebius places ten miles from Sichem, in the way to the Jordan.
