13<\/strong>. Gibeah<\/em> ] Here, as in Isa 10:29<\/span> b, clearly south of Ramah, now er-Rm; it may well have occupied the ruined site called Tell el-Fl, 2 miles N. of Jerusalem. This is the Gibeah of Saul mentioned in 1Sa 10:26<\/span>; 1Sa 11:4<\/span>; 1Sa 15:34<\/span>, Is. l.c. (see Jos., Wars<\/em> Jdg 19:2<\/span>; Jdg 19:1<\/span>), and known also as G. of Benjamin, 1Sa 13:2<\/span>; 1Sa 13:15 ; 1Sa 14:16<\/span>. It is to be distinguished from Geba, 1Sa 14:5<\/span>, Isa 10:29<\/span> a etc., now Jeba‘, E. of er-Rm. The name = hill<\/em> was a common one (e.g. Jos 15:57<\/span> in Judah, ib.<\/em> Jos 24:33<\/span> RVm. in Ephraim), and easily leads to confusion.<\/p>\n Both which places lay in Benjamins portion, a little northward from Jerusalem, and in the road from Bethlehem-judah to Gibeah. <\/P> <\/p>\n 13. in Gibeah, or in Ramah<\/B>Thefirst of these places was five miles northeast, the other from fourto five north of Jerusalem.<\/P><\/p>\n And he said to his servant, come, and let us draw near<\/strong>,…. The Levite is naturally anxious to push on homewards as fast as he can. Perhaps he knew that Gibeah did not bear a good character, and that it would be better to get as far as Ramah if possible. In countries where there are no public inns, each town and village gets a character of its own from the reports of travellers.<\/p>\n 13<\/strong>. <\/strong> In Gibeah, or in Ramah <\/strong> Cities of Benjamin lying northward from Jerusalem, one about an hour, the other two hours, or more, distant. Fatally Gibeah was the nearest. <\/p>\n Probably in those days there were no public inns. But yet might not a Levite, and no doubt his dress indicated the order to which he belonged, have reasonably expected accommodation from every Israelite? The Lord had expressly pointed out that his Levites should have no inheritance with their brethren, because the Lord himself was their portion. But then this implied how much every true lover of the Lord would love a Levite! Jos 13:33<\/span> . But is there not in all this, somewhat that pointed to the Prince of Levites? Did not this intimate that Jesus was to be the inheritance of all his tribes? Dearest Lord! let it never be said of me, or any of thine, I was a stranger and ye took me not in.
