Perhaps &ldquo;Shimei the Ramathite,&rdquo; the overseer of David&rsquo;s vineyards, came from it (<span class='bible'>1Ch 27:27<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><em> Jattir<\/em> ] A priestly city in the mountains of Judah (<span class='bible'>Jos 15:48<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Jos 21:14<\/span>), probably the modern <em> Attr<\/em>, 4 miles S.W. of Eshtemoa. Shimei, the Ramathite <span class='bible'>1Ch 27:27<\/span>, who was over Davids vineyards, was evidently a native of this Ramath. Bethelevidently not the well known place of that name, but Bethuel or Bethul in the tribe of Simeon. The LXX. read here Baithsour. South Ramoth, <em>i.e., <\/em>Ramah of the South.
