If the text is correct he was a Syrian of Zobah. See note on ch. <span class='bible'>2Sa 8:3<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em> Bani the Gadite<\/em> ] This is probably the true reading, and <em> Mibhar the son of Haggeri<\/em> in <span class='bible'>1Ch 11:38<\/span> is a corruption of the words here <em> of Zobah Bani the Gadite<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p><P STYLE=\"text-indent: 0.75em\">It is remarkable that we have several foreigners at this part of the list: Igal of Zobah, Zelek the Ammonite, Uriah the Hittite, and perhaps Nahari the Beerothite. Sacr. p. 856.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: John Gill&#8217;s Exposition of the Entire Bible<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<p>(36) <strong>Igal.<\/strong>Chronicles has <em>Joel. <\/em>The two names differ in Hebrew only in one letter, and that a very similar one; but he is described here as <em>the son of Nathan of Zobah, <\/em>in Chronicles as <em>the brother of Nathan. Brother <\/em>is in Hebrew <em>ahi, <\/em>and some MSS. in Chronicles read <em>the son of Ahinathan. <\/em>If this be accepted, the only difference would be in the form of a name, <em>Nathan <\/em>or <em>Ahinathan.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bani the Gadite.<\/strong>In Chronicles <em>Mibhar the son of Haggeri. <\/em>Entirely unlike as these readings appear, they are not so very different in the original. <em>Mibhar <\/em>is for Zobah of the previous clause, a word at present missing in Chronicles; <em>the son of <\/em>(<em>Ben<\/em>)<em> <\/em>is for Bani; and <em>the Gadite <\/em>(with the article) differs from <em>Haggeri <\/em>only by the change of the often confused letters <em>d <\/em>and r.
