The LXX, making both portions of the story to correspond, inserts in <span class='bible'>1Ki 2:37<\/span> &lsquo;and the king made him to swear in that day.&rsquo;<\/p>\n<p><em> The word<\/em> that <em> I have heard<\/em> ] &lsquo;The <strong> saying<\/strong> &amp;c.&rsquo; as in <span class='bible'>1Ki 2:38<\/span>. He sent messengers to him, and by them ordered him to come to him, who accordingly came:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and he said unto him, did not I make thee swear by the Lord<\/strong>; which, though not before mentioned, was no doubt done, nor did Shimei deny it:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and protested unto thee<\/strong>; that is, declared before witnesses:<\/p>\n<p><strong>saying, know for certain, that on the day thou goest out<\/strong>; namely, out of the city of Jerusalem:<\/p>\n<p><strong>and walkest abroad any whither<\/strong>; further at most than the brook Kidron, or any other place equally distant from Jerusalem, on any side of it; for when he went to Gath, he did not go over Kidron, but went the road the other way around.
