Comprende los condados de  Glengarry y Stormont, y fue elevada a la categor\u00eda de Di\u00f3cesis por el Papa Le\u00f3n XIII, en el decreto \u201cIn hac sublimiae\u201d del 23 de enero de 1890. El primer Obispo fue Alexander McDonnell, quien naci\u00f3 en Lochiel, condado de Glengarry, Ontario, el 1 de noviembre de 1833, y muri\u00f3 en Montreal el 30 de mayo de 1905.
