Este vocablo, que est\u00e1 presente tanto en el hebreo b\u00edblico como en el moderno, tiene el sentido de \u00abgritar, vociferar\u00bb. El t\u00e9rmino es casi paralelo al vocablo de sonido muy similar, za’aq, que tambi\u00e9n se traduce como \u00abclamar\u00bb. El verbo sha’aq se encuentra unas 55 veces en el Antiguo Testamento hebraico y aparece por primera vez en G\u00e9n 4:10 : \u00abLa voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a m\u00ed desde la tierra\u00bb.<\/p>\n
A menudo se usa este t\u00e9rmino con el sentido de \u00abgrito de auxilio\u00bb. A veces es el ser humano que \u00abclama\u00bb a otro ser humano: \u00abEl pueblo clamaba al fara\u00f3n por alimentos\u00bb (G\u00e9n 41:55). Con mayor frecuencia es el ser humano que \u00abclama\u00bb a Dios por ayuda: \u00abEntonces los hijos de Israel temieron much\u00edsimo y clamaron a Jehov\u00e1\u00bb (\u00c9xo 14:10 RVA).
