Exact (Verb)
“to do, to practice,” also has the meaning of “transacting,” or “managing in the matter of payment, to exact, to get money from a person,” Luk 3:13 (RV, “extort”). Cp. the English idiom “to do a person in.” This verb is rendered “required,” in Luk 19:23.
“to accuse falsely,” Luk 3:14, has its other meaning, “to exact wrongfully,” in Luk 19:8. See ACCUSE.
