See ATTAIN, CALL, CATCH, HAVE, HOLD, OBTAIN, RECEIVE, TAKE. <\/p>\n<p> Note: The verb charitoo, &#8220;to make acceptable,&#8221; is translated &#8220;made accepted,&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Eph 1:6<\/span>, AV; RV, &#8220;freely bestowed.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p> *The following adjectives are translated &#8220;acceptable,&#8221; or in some cases &#8220;accepted.&#8221; The R.V. more frequently adopts the former rendering. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> akin to No. 1, denotes &#8220;a person or thing who has been regarded favorably,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 4:19<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Luk 4:24<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 10:35<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 6:2<\/span> (in this verse No. 3 is used in the second place); <span class='bible'>Phi 4:18<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> a strengthened form of No. 1 (apo, &#8220;from,&#8221; used intensively), signifies &#8220;acceptable,&#8221; in the sense of what is pleasing and welcome, <span class='bible'>1Ti 2:3<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ti 5:4<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> a still stronger form of No. 1, signifies a &#8220;very favorable acceptance&#8221; (eu, &#8220;well,&#8221; pros, &#8220;towards,&#8221; No. 1), <span class='bible'>Rom 15:16<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Rom 15:31<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 6:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 8:12<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Pe 2:5<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> eu, &#8220;well,&#8221; arestos, &#8220;pleasing,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;acceptable,&#8221; in the AV of <span class='bible'>Rom 12:1-2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Rom 14:18<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>2Co 5:9<\/span>, &#8220;accepted;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Eph 5:10<\/span>. The RV usually has &#8220;well-pleasing;&#8221; so AV and RV in <span class='bible'>Phi 4:18<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Col 3:20<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>Tit 2:9<\/span>, &#8220;please well,&#8221; AV; <span class='bible'>Heb 13:21<\/span>. See PLEASING. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> corresponding to B, No. 4, is used in <span class='bible'>Heb 12:28<\/span>, &#8220;so as to please.&#8221; See PLEASE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> akin to B, No. 2, signifies &#8220;worthy to be received with approbation, acceptation,&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Ti 1:15<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ti 4:9<\/span>. The phrase in <span class='bible'>1Ti 1:15<\/span> is found in a writing in the 1st century expressing appreciation of a gift from a princess. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;grace,&#8221; indicating favor on the part of the giver, &#8220;thanks&#8221; on the part of the receiver, is rendered &#8220;acceptable&#8221; in <span class='bible'>1Pe 2:19-20<\/span>.
