ACCEPTABLE<\/h2>\n<p> (from , &#8216;grace&#8217;) is translated &#8216;made accepted&#8217; in the A.V. in Eph 1:6; &#8220;made accepted in the beloved,&#8221; where the sense is, &#8216;taken into favour,&#8217; or &#8216;made objects of grace.&#8217; It has been said that &#8220;accepted is too formal a doctrine here.&#8221; The only other occurrence of  is in Luk 1:28, where the angel declared Mary to be the &#8216;highly favoured&#8217; one, or, as in the margin, &#8216;graciously accepted, or much graced.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p> (lit. &#8216;well-pleasing,&#8217; from , &#8216;well,&#8217; and , &#8216;to please&#8217;) signifies &#8216;acceptable&#8217; to God, Rom 14:18; &#8216;agreeable&#8217; to the Lord, Eph 5:10; &#8216;well-pleasing&#8217; to Him, Col 3:20. These passages show that the translation &#8220;we may be accepted of him,&#8221; in 2Co 5:9, is incorrect: it should be &#8220;agreeable to him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> implies that God has brought the believer into favour.  in the passages quoted, applies to that which is acceptable, or well-pleasing, to God: cf. Rom 12:1-2; Rom 14:18; Heb 13:21, as of conduct, etc<\/p>\n<p> (lit. &#8216;acceptable,&#8217; from , &#8216;to accept&#8217;) is another word rendered both &#8216;accepted&#8217; and &#8216;acceptable&#8217; in the A.V.
