England, June 9, 1729, and was educated &#8216;under Dr. Doddridge. Having been admitted to preach, he removed in 1750 to Spaldick, Huntingdonshire, and in .1752 became minister of a Dissenting congregation at Market-Harborough, Leicestershire. In 1758 he opened his house for the reception of pupils, and for many years he devoted nine hours each day to their instruction.&#8217; He. removed to Miles Lane, Cannon Street, London, in 1781, and soon after was chosen tutor of a new Dissenting academy at Mile End. He continued in the care of his congregation till within a few months of his death, Feb. 6, 1796. Besides several educational works, he wrote, Maxims Religious and Prudential, with a Sermon to Young People (12mo):&#8211;Dissertation on the Religious Knowledge of the-Ancient .Jews and Patriarchs, etc. (1757, 4to):Life of St. Paul the Apostle (Lond. 1784, 4to) :&#8211;Sermon on Hosea iv, 6 (ibid. 1786, 8vo).
