{"id":16437,"date":"2022-09-28T05:01:07","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T10:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/agree-agreement\/"},"modified":"2022-09-28T05:01:07","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T10:01:07","slug":"agree-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/agree-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Agree, Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Agree, Agreement<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;to sound together&#8221; (sun, &#8220;together,&#8221; phone, &#8220;a sound&#8221;), i.e., &#8220;to be in accord, primarily of musical instruments,&#8221; is used in the NT of the &#8220;agreement&#8221; (a) of persons concerning a matter, <span class='bible'>Mat 18:19<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 20:2<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Mat 20:13<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 5:9<\/span>; (b) of the writers of Scripture, <span class='bible'>Act 15:15<\/span>; (c) of things that are said to be congruous in their nature, <span class='bible'>Luk 5:36<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p> Note: Cp. sumphonesis, &#8220;concord,&#8221; <span class='bible'>2Co 6:15<\/span>, and sumphonia, &#8220;music,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 15:25<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;to put together&#8221; (sun, &#8220;with,&#8221; tithemi, &#8220;to put&#8221;), in the Middle Voice, means &#8220;to make an agreement, or to assent to;&#8221; translated &#8220;covenanted&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 22:5<\/span>; &#8220;agreed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Joh 9:22<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 23:20<\/span>; &#8220;assented&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 24:9<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p> Note: For the synonym sunkatatithemi, a strengthened form of No. 2, see CONSENT, No. 4. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;to be well-minded, well-disposed&#8221; (eu, &#8220;well,&#8221; nous, &#8220;the mind&#8221;), is found in <span class='bible'>Mat 5:25<\/span>, &#8220;agree with.&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to persuade,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;agreed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 5:40<\/span>, where the meaning is &#8220;they yielded to him.&#8221; See ASSURE, BELIEVE, CONFIDENT, FRIEND, OBEY, PERSUADE, TRUST, YIELD. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;mind, will,&#8221; is used with poieo, &#8220;to make,&#8221; in the sense of &#8220;to agree,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Rev 17:17<\/span> (twice), lit., &#8220;to do His mind, and to make one mind;&#8221; RV, &#8220;to come to one mind,&#8221; AV, &#8220;to agree.&#8221; See ADVICE, JUDGMENT, MIND, PURPOSE, WILL. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> akin to A, No. 3, occurs in <span class='bible'>2Co 6:16<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;inharmonious&#8221; (a, negative, sumphonos, &#8220;harmonious&#8221;), is used in <span class='bible'>Act 28:25<\/span>, &#8220;they agreed not.&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;equal,&#8221; is used with the verb to be, signifying &#8220;to agree,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Mar 14:56<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Mar 14:59<\/span>, lit., &#8220;their thought was not equal one with the other.&#8221; See EQUAL, LIKE, MUCH. <\/p>\n<p> Note: Sumphonos, &#8220;harmonious, agreeing,&#8221; is used only with the preposition ek in the phrase ek sumphonou, &#8220;by consent,&#8221; lit., &#8220;out of agreement,&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 7:5<\/span>.
