Wharton supposes him to have been archbishop of Lichfield; but Adulf of Lichfield was not bishop until after 800. He may, however, be safely identified with the bishop of Mayo, in Ireland, &#8220;Aldulphus Myiensis ecclesiae episcopus,&#8221; who attended the Legasine Council of the North in 787.
