He received a careful religious training; experienced religion in his sixteenth year; began to exhort in 1851; was licensed to preach in 1852; and in 1853 entered the Georgia Conference, in which he served efficiently until his death, Sept. 13, 1866. Mr. Allen was an industrious and careful student, a model preacher, a devoted pastor, and a devout Christian. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M. E.
