(2) all: so the Revised Version (British and American), Isa 10:8 : Are not my princes all of them kings? (3) with one accord have broken the yoke; so the Revised Version (British and American), Jer 5:5. (4) completely, entirely, fully: so as not to destroy him altogether (2Ch 12:12; compare Gen 18:21; Exo 11:1; Psa 39:5; Jer 30:11 the King James Version; compare the Revised Version (British and American)). (5) wholly: altogether born in sins, Joh 9:34. (6) In 1Co 5:10 the Revised Version (British and American) rendered at all; 1Co 9:10 assuredly. (7) A passage of classic difficulty to translators is Act 26:29, where altogether in the Revised Version (British and American) is rendered with much, Greek en megalo (en pollo). See ALMOST. Many of the instances where altogether occurs in the King James Version become together in the Revised Version (British and American). Used as an adjective in Psa 39:5 (altogether vanity).<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: International Standard Bible Encyclopedia<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Altogether<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;whole,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;altogether&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Joh 9:34<\/span>. It is sometimes subjoined to an adjective or a verb, as in this case, to show that the idea coveyed by the adjective or verb belongs to the whole person or thing referred to. So here, lit., &#8220;thou wast altogether (i.e., completely) born in sins.&#8221; Cp. <span class='bible'>Mat 13:33<\/span>, RV; <span class='bible'>Luk 11:36<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 13:21<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 13:10<\/span>, RV (rendered &#8220;every whit&#8221;). See ALL, and EVERY WHIT. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> from pas, &#8220;all,&#8221; is translated in various ways. The rendering &#8220;altogether&#8221; is found only in <span class='bible'>1Co 5:10<\/span> (where the RV margin gives the alternative meaning, &#8220;not at all&#8221; (meaning the fornicators of this world) and <span class='bible'>1Co 9:10<\/span> (marg., &#8220;doubtless&#8221;). The other renderings are, in <span class='bible'>Luk 4:23<\/span>, &#8220;doubtless&#8221; (AV, &#8220;surely&#8221;); in <span class='bible'>Act 18:21<\/span>, &#8220;by all means,&#8221; (AV, &#8220;only&#8221;); so in <span class='bible'>1Co 9:22<\/span>, both RV and AV; in <span class='bible'>Act 21:22<\/span>, &#8220;certainly&#8221; (AV, &#8220;needs,&#8221; which does not give an accurate meaning); in <span class='bible'>Act 28:4<\/span>, &#8220;no doubt;&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Rom 3:9<\/span>, &#8220;in no wise&#8221; (lit., &#8220;not at all&#8221;), so in <span class='bible'>1Co 16:12<\/span>.
